BayWa r.e., a leading renewable energy company, recently sold its 95 MW Spanish solar farm to Encavis AG, a prominent independent power producer. This solar farm, located near Córdoba in Andalucía, is set to be connected to the grid in the fourth quarter of 2025. With a capacity to generate 187 GWh of electricity annually, the Almodóvar solar farm will play a crucial role in Spain’s energy transition.

Continued Partnership and Milestones

This sale marks another significant milestone in the partnership between BayWa r.e. and Encavis AG, following the successful sale of the Lirios solar farm earlier. Both companies are working together to advance numerous solar and wind projects across Europe. The Almodóvar solar farm is part of a 10-year Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) that BayWa r.e. signed with Huhtamaki in 2021, a leading provider of sustainable packaging solutions.

Commitment to Biodiversity

BayWa r.e. is dedicated to enhancing biodiversity during the construction and operation of the Almodóvar solar farm. The company has implemented various measures, including creating ponds for invertebrates and amphibians, installing nesting boxes, and developing habitats for small mammals, insects, and bats. Additionally, BayWa r.e. will cultivate specific plant species to support steppe birds near the project site.
