PT PLN (Persero) and PT Fast Retailing Indonesia (UNIQLO) have joined forces to provide UNIQLO with 8,978 megawatt hours (MWh) of green electricity using Renewable Energy Certificates (REC). This collaboration is a significant milestone in supporting Indonesia’s industrial sector’s decarbonization efforts. The partnership aims to promote the transparent and responsible use of renewable energy, emphasizing the importance of sustainability in the fashion industry.

The Significance of Renewable Energy Certificates

Darmawan Prasodjo, President Director of PLN, highlighted the role of REC in promoting the adoption of renewable energy. He praised UNIQLO for choosing to utilize PLN’s green electricity to drive the energy transition and sustainability in the fashion sector. This collaboration is a step towards achieving Net Zero Emissions (NZE) by 2060, encouraging various industries to actively reduce carbon emissions.
