Wood-Mode LLC owner is proposing an innovative project that could bring significant changes to Northumberland County. The proposal involves the creation of a commercial solar energy facility with approximately 8,300 solar panels. This facility would be located at a former drive-in movie theater in Natalie, near Mount Carmel. The owner, William French of 160 Colonial LLC, presented this idea to the Mount Carmel Township Zoning Hearing Board recently.

Revamping Unused Space with Solar Energy

The 25-acre property in Natalie has remained unused for many years, making it an ideal location for a renewable energy project. William French aims to transform this neglected space by installing a 3.975-megawatt solar facility. Since the township’s regulations do not specifically address commercial solar energy facilities, 160 Colonial LLC must demonstrate that the project aligns with the zoning district’s permitted uses, poses no harm to the township, and complies with local ordinances.

Potential Benefits for the Community

If approved, the commercial solar facility could bring numerous benefits to the area. Not only would it contribute to the production of clean and sustainable energy, but it could also create job opportunities and stimulate economic growth. Additionally, the project could serve as a model for future renewable energy initiatives in the region.

Staying Informed and Engaged

As the proposal progresses, it is important to stay updated on any developments regarding the commercial solar facility in Northumberland County. This project has the potential to impact the community positively and pave the way for more environmentally friendly practices in the area. By following the latest news and updates on this endeavor, residents can stay informed and engaged in the decision-making process.
