Nova Innovation and RSK have recently established a joint venture named AuqaGen365, aimed at designing, building, and installing floating solar power stations worldwide. This collaboration builds on the success of Nova’s first floating solar project at the Port of Leith in Edinburgh, which has been providing clean, renewable energy to Forth Ports’ headquarters. The joint venture showcases the resilience of floating solar technology, as the Port of Leith project generated electricity during Storm Babet in October 2023, enduring harsh weather conditions.

Building a Sustainable Future with Floating Solar

The Port of Leith project is a testament to the potential of floating solar installations near the shore, in sheltered inland waters, reservoirs, and offshore locations. Director of RSK, David Taylor, emphasized the significance of floating solar in providing clean, cost-effective energy where traditional solar installations are not feasible. With the global commitment to triple renewable energy capacity by 2030, floating solar emerges as a practical solution to combat climate change.

Collaborative Efforts for Environmental Impact

CEO of Nova Innovation, Simon Forrest, highlighted the synergy between RSK and Nova in contributing to global renewable energy targets. The joint venture aligns with Nova Innovation’s previous initiatives to lower tidal energy costs and secure funding for tidal energy farms. Projects like Seastar and the Shetland Tidal Array demonstrate the commitment to sustainable energy solutions that benefit communities and the environment.

Expanding Renewable Energy Horizons

Incorporating floating solar technology into the energy mix not only diversifies renewable energy sources but also enhances energy generation capacity. The success of the Port of Leith project and the formation of AuqaGen365 signify a step towards a greener, more sustainable future. By leveraging innovative technologies and collaborative partnerships, Nova Innovation and RSK are paving the way for a more resilient and environmentally conscious energy sector.
