ENGIE Energy Access, a prominent provider of Pay-As-You-Go (PAYGO) and mini-grid solutions in Africa, has launched the construction of 15 solar mini-grids in Zambia’s Eastern Province. This initiative is part of the IAEREP program, funded by the 11th European Development Fund and the European Union, aiming to enhance access to electricity and renewable energy production.

Empowering Underserved Communities

The expansion of off-grid energy solutions in Zambia by ENGIE Energy Access is geared towards offering reliable electricity to families and small businesses that lack access. By doing so, the company is contributing to economic growth and improving the socio-economic well-being of local communities.

MySol Grid Zambia: Driving Progress

MySol Grid Zambia, under ENGIE Energy Access, will oversee the construction, ownership, operation, and maintenance of these solar mini-grids. This ensures that residential, commercial, and productive-use customers have access to sustainable and dependable power, along with additional value-adding services.

Striving for Expansion

The goal to operate 60 mini-grids across five provinces in Zambia demonstrates ENGIE Energy Access’s commitment to expanding energy access. By aligning with national electrification plans and collaborating with authorities, the company aims to drive sustainable development in Zambia while supporting United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially SDG 7.

Pioneering Clean Energy Solutions

The announcement of this milestone underscores ENGIE Energy Access’s dedication to providing clean energy solutions and promoting sustainable development in the region. By delivering clean, affordable, and reliable energy to rural areas, the company is making a tangible impact on the lives of 40,000 individuals.
