Vestas has secured a firm order to supply the 192 MW Vifor project in south-eastern Romania. The project, owned by First Look Solutions, a subsidiary of Rezolv Energy and Low Carbon, will be supported by 30 V162-6.2 MW turbines from Vestas’ EnVentus platform. This turnkey project includes engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) services, as well as a 15-year service agreement for power performance certainty.

Vifor Project: A Major Contribution to Romania’s Energy Transition

The Vifor wind project is set to become one of the largest onshore wind projects in the region, aiding Romania’s energy transition goals. Nils de Baar, President of Vestas Northern and Central Europe, highlighted the significance of this project in reducing Romania’s reliance on fossil fuels and improving energy security. Vestas’ commitment to responsible and sustainable renewable energy projects aligns well with the goals of this endeavor.

Collaboration and Milestones

Alastair Hammond, CEO of Rezolv Energy, expressed delight in reaching this milestone after years of dedicated work. Martin Langham, Managing Director at Low Carbon, emphasized the role of the Vifor project in decarbonizing Romania’s electricity grid and accelerating the energy transition in Eastern Europe.

Project Details and Delivery

Located in Buzau County, the Vifor project consists of two construction phases, with the firm order currently focusing on Phase 1. Deliveries are expected to commence in early 2025, with commissioning scheduled by the end of the same year. This project represents a significant advancement in the renewable energy landscape of the CEE/SEE region.
