In a recent turn of events, the Stafford County Board of Supervisors has given Enon Road Solar Farm, LLC a second chance to present their solar farm project on Enon Road. This decision, made on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, waived the typical one-year waiting period that follows a denied conditional use permit (CUP) application. The initial application for the solar facility faced rejection by the Board on October 4, 2023, despite receiving recommendations for approval from both the Planning Commission and county staff. According to county regulations, a denied application cannot be resubmitted for at least a year. However, Enon Road Solar Farm, LLC formally requested a waiver of this rule on April 25, 2024.

Re-Pitching the Enon Road Solar Farm Project

Given the recent decision by the Stafford County Board of Supervisors, Enon Road Solar Farm, LLC now has the opportunity to re-pitch their solar farm project on Enon Road. This second chance comes after the Board initially denied the application in October 2023, despite positive recommendations from both the Planning Commission and county staff. The waiver of the one-year waiting period typically required after a denied conditional use permit (CUP) application allows Enon Road Solar Farm, LLC to move forward with their revised proposal.

The Importance of Board Approval

Board approval plays a crucial role in the development of solar energy projects like the Enon Road Solar Farm. By granting Enon Road Solar Farm, LLC the chance to re-pitch their project, the Stafford County Board of Supervisors is demonstrating a willingness to reconsider and evaluate the solar farm’s potential benefits. This decision not only impacts the future of the solar farm but also reflects the county’s stance on renewable energy initiatives.
