ACCIONA Energía has recently launched operations at the Red-Tailed Hawk Solar Plant, a groundbreaking solar complex near Houston in Wharton County, Texas. With a remarkable capacity of 458MWp, this plant marks a significant milestone for the company in the realm of renewable energy. As the largest solar complex developed by ACCIONA Energía to date, the Red-Tailed Hawk Solar Plant solidifies the company’s position as a key player in the energy transition in the United States.

ACCIONA Energía’s Expansion in North America

The inauguration of the Red-Tailed Hawk plant expands ACCIONA Energía’s renewable energy portfolio in North America to a total installed capacity of 2.7GW. This growth highlights the company’s commitment to sustainability and clean energy solutions. In addition to the Red-Tailed Hawk Solar Plant, ACCIONA Energía is actively engaged in constructing a 280MW wind farm in Alberta, Canada, and the Union Solar project, a 325MWp photovoltaic plant in Ohio, United States.

Efficient Solar Technology at Red-Tailed Hawk

The Red-Tailed Hawk Solar Plant is equipped with solar panels mounted on solar trackers, maximizing sunlight exposure and enhancing production efficiency. This innovative technology is projected to generate an impressive 742GWh of clean electricity annually. This output is equivalent to powering around 66,500 households in Texas and preventing the emission of approximately 430,000 tons of CO2 per year.

Social Responsibility and Economic Growth

As part of its commitment to social responsibility, ACCIONA Energía has integrated the Red-Tailed Hawk project into its Social Impact Management program. Through this initiative, a portion of the plant’s revenue will be dedicated to supporting local community projects focused on education, wellness, and environmental stewardship. Moreover, the Red-Tailed Hawk Solar Plant has significantly contributed to local economic growth by creating approximately 400 jobs during its peak construction phase, with up to 15 permanent positions expected to be sustained.

Advancing Renewable Energy Solutions

The launch of the Red-Tailed Hawk Solar Plant underscores ACCIONA Energía’s dedication to advancing renewable energy solutions and promoting sustainable development in the United States and beyond. By investing in cutting-edge technology and embracing social responsibility, ACCIONA Energía continues to drive the transition towards a greener, more sustainable future.
