Iberdrola and Bayer have solidified their partnership through an 11-year green power purchase agreement (PPA) in Italy, starting in January 2025, with a total of 33 GWh. This agreement expands their international collaboration, complementing existing agreements in Spain and Mexico, and emphasizes sustainable energy consumption. Bayer’s Garbagnate plant in Milan will transition to using solely renewable electricity, showcasing the pharmaceutical company’s dedication to environmental sustainability.

Green Energy Supply in Italy

The energy will be generated by the Montefiascone photovoltaic plant in Lazio, Iberdrola’s second solar plant in Italy, with a total installed capacity of 7 MW. Once operational, the plant will prevent over 3,200 tonnes of CO2 emissions, equivalent to the electricity demand of more than 4,000 homes.

Iberdrola’s Commitment to Sustainability

Iberdrola is focused on developing strategies and solutions for industrial decarbonization through renewable energy and the promotion of self-consumption, reducing environmental impact. With the inauguration of its second plant and the completion of authorized photovoltaic projects, Iberdrola aims to achieve an operational capacity of 400 MW in Italy by 2025.
